The Incident

Dear Reader,
Thank you for taking your time to read this letter for help, my name is Christopher Flores and I want to share with you a long and unfortunate journey that my family and I have endured, the most painful and recent having been over the last three years. Even though unfortunate events have been present over the course of our lifetime I am going to start on the day of July 12, 2006 and give you a summary of the things that have been shaped since then.

July 12, 2006

On the morning of July 12, 2006, my family and I were present at our suburban home in Palmdale, California. My family consists of my then pregnant Mother, Tracy (34), My two Brothers, Robert (16), Mikey (9), My three sisters, Arianna (14), Tracy (5), Destiny (4), Alisha (8 months), and myself (17). Also present were some friends who were helping to fix minor damages to our home. That morning a “routine” Parole Sweep was being performed on our neighbors next door who were heavy into drug trafficking and sales. The police performed their sweep and pulled many people out from next door and began to run their names and arrest them. The leader of the drug operation, Sandra Contreras, then tells the police that they have the wrong house and direct them over to our residence. The Not-So-Smart officers proceed on a drug addict’s word and unlawfully enter our home, guns drawn out on a family of eight.

Just like a scene from “COPS”, they had everyone faced down on the floor as they searched the house for any illegal contraband, children and mother crying in fear. The police find no such trace of illegal substance or paraphernalia, but since our home was “in progress” of being recarpeted and fixed, was an unsuitable dwelling for children, according to The Department of Children & Family Services who were called to the scene once there were children involved. The leader of The M.A.R.T team, the team whom performed the search had previously told us that the DCFS were coming to ask questions and that the children would not be taken…..THIS IS WHERE THE TRUE NIGHTMARE BEGINS…

The Social Workers arrive on the scene and begin their questioning of each individual child who told them of nothing but good things about our existence with our Mother. But one such social worker who had been harassing us prior to this visit showed up and took matters into her own hands for us “Playing Games” with her. (Her words, not mine) She immediately ordered the removal of the children into state custody because of the carpet that was not yet put down. Chaos ensued, as the children were Ripped from their mother’s arms. Heart wrenching tears and sobs were exchanged as the Social workers watched with satisfied expressions on their face for “A Job Well Done”.
My fourteen year old sister trying to attack these women for their travesty and the police at the ready to take on this minor. My brother Robert was smart and took the opportunity to run away. The White 15 passenger van pulled up ready to transport the unsuspecting Victims. The M.A.R.T. leader said I was excluded because I would be eighteen in a week’s time. My Mother on her knees in the front yard as her children were put into a van. My Mother has varicose veins on her leg, which restrict blood flow and the Social Worker made a comment “If I Didn’t know any better. I would say you shoot up through your legs.” I went in the Van on it’s way to the DCFS office. I went to be with my siblings…and going to that place was just the beginning……

FLASHFORWARD:

June 2009…Three Years Later
My Family has since then been torn apart. The events of that day lead my family into this very moment in time. The Final court date. Adoption Day. Three years and one unfortunate circumstance after another we are here. Each Alone in our own way.
My Mother, Tracy (36) is currently in Prison. After her children were taken from her, the DCFS made it damn near impossible for her children to return to her. After her children being taken from Vicky Cedillo, The social worker with unknown vendetta, another social worker would just make things far more worse. Indira Renderos, The Devil In Plain sight. She would lie , manipulate, and threaten her way into any situation. If she isn’t the main reason stopping the children’s return home, she is a big one.
Robert (19), the one that got away, currently stays with a friend who has taken him in from the streets. Now a very angry human being thanks to the Super DCFS, is supporting himself with giving tattoos and street hustles. He is an aspiring rap artist. He has enormous anger issues and a short-fused temper for the smallest things, and makes one fear for his future.
Arianna (16), awoled from custody numerous times since she has been taken and has now developed an addiction to Crystal Methamphetamine. She is alone on the streets and has been since the age of fourteen. The DCFS would not allow her to be home with her mother, and as a result of that, she bounced from motel room to motel room and god knows where else. Foster parents have sent her to mental institutions, ignoring her cry for help. Thanks to their mistake, she has to struggle to not only fend for herself, but battle the darkness of the streets that not many people know of. She faces dangers that no one person should ever have to face, let alone a child. Once, a bright young girl, is now a hollow shell that I’m afraid will never be the same.
Mikey (11), He may be the one affected most out of all. He has been alone pretty much since day one. He has been to at least ten foster homes, if not more. He has been to seven schools and knows no stability. He has issues with telling the truth and being focused in school and has become that cliché bad foster kid in their eyes. He has been to a psych specialist for about two years and now they are seeking alternate methods in treatment, as in drugs. “If you can’t fix ‘em, drug ‘em.” He has even once ran away from one town, Lancaster to another town, Palmdale on foot just to be with my mother. Police were looking for him and it was a big ordeal. All he wants is to be home and safe with his family. I just hope the damage is irreversible.
Tracy (8), Destiny (7), Alisha (3), & Jo-AnnaMarie (2) are all together in one home with Alisha’s paternal aunt…Good right? Wrong! When the family decided to step up, we couldn’t have been more than happy, until when they did receive custody, the foster parents insisted that it “would be best” if all communication between us (The three older siblings and the four girls) discontinued and have since then ignored letters and phone calls. It has been over one year since I have spoken to or seen my sisters. Jo-AnnaMarie was taken directly at birth. I hardly even know her, or her us. I long to know her. I miss them so much I can hardly stand it.

As for myself, I am now 20 years old. I currently crash on a couch and live out of a small closet. I have been affected each and every day since “The Incident”. I am just a hollow shell of a former person. My family was taken and broken in my face and there was nothing I could do. Not to mention that this little story is just literally The Tip Of The Iceberg. The rest sounds so unreal that it is hardly believable and could pass for a bad soap opera as the series of unfortunate events and circumstances continues…in Spades. There are situations in which we lived without everyday utilities, such as water or power for months at a time. We ended up homeless and lived in an office for five months. Everyday is a battle.
So Whomever is reading this, If you want to make a difference and change nine people’s screwed up world, then Please help. PLEASE! I am desperate in the fact that I am blindly posting this on the internet in random places. My family is asking the world for help. If anyone knows a good lawyer who can help us fix this mistake and right these wrongs, to fight the DCFS not only for my family but all of the other families too. I’m sure we are not the only ones who face injustice. If you know of a rehab center to help my sister before something extremely bad happens, if it hasn’t already. A way to save our family. SOMEONE out there has to be able to help us somehow. Please. This isn’t a joke, it is one hundred percent true and there is SO much more stories to fill in the blanks and answer questions. There are also things that legally needs to be addressed . PLEASE SOMEONE, HELP US. If all you can do is pray, it is appreciated. We Need all of the prayers we can get.
